Lido re-opens with new IMAX Hall
Iconic Singapore theatre complex Shaw’s Lido Theatres opened its doors Thursday after closing seven months ago for a S$20 million renovation.

Apart from providing patrons with more legroom as well as dedicated lifts and special wheelchair lots for people with disabilities at its new cinema halls, the new 1,960-seater, 11-screen Lido theatre complex will also house Singapore’s first IMAX’s Digital Theatre System in its IMAX Hall.

The IMAX Theatre System has been touted as being able to provide cinema-goes with better sound and sharper visuals on a larger effective screen. Disney’s upcoming blockbuster “Pirates of the Caribbean – On Stranger Tides” will be the first film screened at the IMAX Hall on May 19. --- READ MORE

Lido's new IMAX 3D experience
AFTER a S$20-million, seven-month "re-imagining", the doors to Shaw's iconic Lido Theatres finally re-open today with a swish new look and 11 halls, including Singapore's first IMAX's Digital Theatre System. With a total seating capacity of 1,960, all cinema halls feature stadium seating, wider legroom and allocated lots for wheelchairs. There are seven digital halls, including the IMAX hall, and dedicated in-cinema lifts to cater to the needs of patrons with disabilities.

Lido IMAX kicks off with Disney's Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides on May 19, so movie-goers will get to see Captain Jack Sparrow and his eyeliner in full IMAX 3D glory. IMAX 2D format movies will cost S$20 (peak) and S$17 (off-peak), while the 3D format will cost S$22 (peak) and S$19 (off-peak). Senior citizen and children concessions, as well as family packages will also be introduced.

To celebrate this cinematic milestone, Shaw Theatres have a slew of activities and promotions lined up, including commemorative passes and free screenings of IMAX movie trailers. --- READ MORE
